About the Charleston
Piano & Bass Duo
The
Charleston Piano & Bass Duo
was formed in 1995.
Before moving to Charleston in 1988, Bob played the piano in The
Four Keys dance band of Columbus Ohio for more than 20 years.
Since 1992, he has played annually for the Tea Room at Grace
Church during Spoleto.
Philip studied music at the College of Charleston and was the
bassist at the former Louis’ Charleston Grill in Charleston Place.
The
Charleston Piano & Bass
Duo performs
original arrangements and improvisations of the great American
songbook and Brazilian imports.
American “standards” from the ‘30s, ‘40s, ‘50s and
‘60s are performed using contemporary arrangements.
Mellow vocals are used sparingly when they are appropriate
for the occasion.
If no piano is available at the reception site, an electric piano
will be
provided.
The
Duo
has performed in concert for the St.
Luke’s Chapel Concert Series sponsored by the Medical
University of South Carolina (MUSC) Cultural Projects Council and
for numerous parties, wedding receptions, wedding rehearsal dinners,
fund raisers and anniversary celebrations including the 1998, 1999,
2000 and 2003 MUSC wine-tasting receptions; the 75th
Anniversary of the Charleston Kiwanis, the 2001 Southeast Regional
Kiwanis Convention, the Navy League celebration of the 222nd
Anniversary of the Navy;
the
2000, 2001 and 2002 MUSC Faculty Convocation and reception; several
Navy League dinner dances; numerous Gibbes Museum of Art galas
including the flowers and art receptions and a Spoleto artists
welcoming reception.

Gadsden, Blacklock House, South Carolina Society Hall, Charleston
