Nikolai Svishev

Nik is a very accomplished musician who lives right here in Charleston, South Carolina. His active international career has taken him to Europe and the US.

Nik performs as a solo act, but also play with a duo, trio or ensemble. His venues include concert halls, historic buildings, plantations, hotels and restaurants. With his musical background and variety of styles Nikolai is in high demand with corporate events and party planners, from the most prestigious events (President George W.Bush, Governor of S.C., S.C. Speaker of The House), to beautiful beach weddings and plantation cocktails and receptions.

Equally conversant with Spanish/Classical repertoire, Brazilian guitar music and Spanish/Classical repertoire, Nik is active in performing in both jazz and classical genres, exhibiting exceptional musicianship and surpassed professionalism all combined to create a most authentic performance.

He plays six and eight string guitar and has written works for orchestra, voice and various instrumental ensembles, as well as for solo guitar. Nik’s musical background includes both film and television soundtracks, numerous music festivals and recordings in Russia, Europe and the United States. Nik was fortunate to share the stage with world famous guitarist such as: Chet Atkins, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Guinga and others.

Nik received a Master of Art Degree in Music with concentration in Jazz Guitar from the University of Arts in Russia, and he is currently working towards his Post Graduate Degree in Classical Guitar Performance at USC in Columbia.

Nik’s trio plays a lovely variety of music by Django Reinhardt (gypsy jazz), Brazilian sambas , Bossa novas, New-Flamenco and jazz standards. The trio is comprised of the best musicians in Charleston, members of the Hilton Head and Charleston Symphony Orchestra and plays classical music as well.

The combination of guitar, violin and upright bass is the perfect combination for any wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Music selections from a classical repertoire to a happy upbeat Brazilian/Latin/gypsy jazz selection are perfect for any type of nuptials. A typical wedding package includes Nikolai playing solo or duo with violin for the ceremony, and then the full trio playing cocktails or reception.
