Class Act
Neville, drums and vocals
Neville, a native of Burlington, NC,
began his music study at Elon College and went on to earn
music degrees from East Carolina University and Southern
Oregon University. Neville’s influences include Tower of Power, Delbert McClinton, .38
Special, Rush, Mothers Finest, and most 60’s and 70’s soul music
artists. As a founder of Class Act, Neville brings over 26 years of
professional playing experience to the group. The extensive list of
artists he has performed with include bassist Perry Richardson formerly
of Firehouse now with Country Superstar Craig Morgan, Jackie Gore
formerly of The Embers, The Gatlin Brothers, The Four Aces, Shari Lewis
& Lambchop, Southern Blue, Timepiece, The David Archer Band, Swingtime,
The Gentlemen of Swing, and The North Carolina Symphony! Neville is
currently a high school band director in Charleston. Danny, guitars and vocals
Danny is one of the founding members of
Class Act. Born and raised on James Island, Danny is a man of many
experiences. Therefore he has just the right amount of soul in his
music. Some of the groups he has performed with include The Anytime
Baby Band, Nothin’ Yet, Dave’s Not Here, and Mother’s Finest. His
influences are James Brown, Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter, The
Temptations, and Smokey Robinson. Danny performs for Life Teen through
the Catholic Diocese of Charleston. In his spare time Danny likes to
get away from it all by going camping. Currently, Danny owns a local
service company in Charleston. Kevin, bass and vocals
Kevin has two music degrees and has
played bass across South Carolina for twenty years. Originally from
Spartanburg, his musical influences include southern rock, jazz, and
dance music. Some of his former bands include Mommy's Fusebox from
Greenville and The Emeralds from Spartanburg. Kevin had the privilege
of performing for George Bush, Sr. during the campaign tour. He is
currently a middle school band director in
Goose Creek. Ronnie, trumpet, percussion, and vocals
Ronnie was born and raised in Raleigh,
NC. He received his bachelors in Music Education from Winthrop
University and his masters in Music Education from the University of
North Texas with a minor in jazz studies. He has had the pleasure of performing
with Identity Crisis, Groove Posse, Chronic, Jon Faddis, Souled Out,
Forward, and numerous jazz and college ensembles. His influences
include jazz, rock, and anyone that played with Miles Davis. Ronnie is
currently a middle school band director in
Goose Creek. Wilton, saxophone and vocals With a background in performance, education and radio broadcasting, Wilton Elder brings a broad-ranging perspective to any musical collaboration. Raised on piano lessons and the public school band program in Burlington, NC, Wilton went on to study saxophone at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and Michigan State University. As a member of the Rasa Saxophone Quartet, Wilton won the 2003 MTNA National Chamber Music Competition and has been featured at regional and national NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance) conferences in addition to the World Saxophone Congress XIII. In more popular venues, he has also shared with stage with the likes of Charlie Hunter, Derek Trucks Band, Soulive and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Wilton currently resides in Charleston, SC where he maintains a productive schedule splitting his time between his private saxophone studio and his work in internet development. Sid, keyboards and vocals Sid, a native of South Carolina, has taught on the music faculties at the University of Oregon, University of South Florida, and Charleston Southern University. He has also taught music education in public schools of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. He recently completed his doctorate in music education at the University of Georgia. Other than performing with Class Act and Souled Out, Sid also performs with the jazz group Forward in his spare time. Currently Sid is teaching music at one of our fine state universities.
