Charleston is one of the birthplaces of "America's Classical Music",
namely Jazz. It originated in Charleston around the time, (or
slightly before) that Jazz began to emerge in New Orleans.
In addition to local flavored jazzy music, the group plays a wide
variety of jazzy background music to cater to varied tastes and ages.
Many classic styles from Sinatra, to Swing, to Dixieland, to the Great
American Songbook, to Brazilian Bossas/Sambas, to Bop, and more contemporary
styles make up the extensive play list. We tailor the selections
each evening to the wishes of those in attendance.
The Cobblestone Group is recommended over and over
by local event professionals because we are incredibly dependable,
easy to work with, talented, and willing to do whatever it takes to
please our clients.
We get tons of repeat business and have entertained International
dignitaries, CEO's and board members of major corporations, well known
political, entertainment, and sports figures, and even royalty. We
regularly play at the top hotels, resorts, plantations, and reception
sites in the Charleston and Lowcountry area.
We are a mostly acoustic group, not requiring a large sound system,
and keeping the volume level perfect for conversation. We have the
flexibility to easily transition from cocktails in one location, to
dinner in a separate room. A microphone is available upon request
for any toasts, or announcements. We typically arrive at least
an hour prior to the arrival of guests to ensure that everything runs
smoothly.
Did I mention that we are flexible?
Are you in charge of planning an event, but someone says that they "don't
like Jazz"? They likely have been exposed to musicians playing too "far
out" and ignoring the listener. This won't happen with our group...we
take requests and can incorporate an amazing amount of popular music
into our sets. The members of the group are all full time professional
musicians and play in variety/party bands as well as jazz groups. We
have a vast repertoire at our fingertips.
Available as a quartet, trio, duo, or even solo jazz guitarist,
the group will fit any space or budget. The group can also be expanded,
adding vocalists, keyboard, and additional horns, as needed. For a
different twist, the instrumentation can be altered, for example, using
jazz violin or trumpet for a different flavor.
The Cobblestone Quartet is
well known in the area for their smooth and polished sound. Their
unobtrusive music provides soft, but toe tapping, jazzy background
music with the flavor of Charleston. They are the perfect touch for
a Charleston or Kiawah corporate event, wedding rehearsal dinner,
cocktail hour, or an upscale wedding reception.
The ambience created by their music will help to ensure that
everyone enjoys themselves at your event. Guests of all ages and
backgrounds will hear tunes that they recognize and you will get
tons of compliments on your choice of entertainment. They love to
make the event planner look good!
We recommend having the full quartet whenever possible, but trimmed
down versions of the group can easily be arranged to suit smaller
spaces and budgets. The Cobblestone Quartet will vary their attire,
sound, and repertoire to perfectly compliment everything from a
Southern BBQ, to a nice casual cocktail party, to a black tie
dinner. You should hire them.
Solo Guitar is a popular option with a smaller footprint as
well as cost. The group leader, guitarist David Archer, uses the
latest looping technology to simulate the sound of the full group.
Many different styles of music are available. More details are
