The Plantation Singers 

The Plantation Singers of Charleston, South Carolina are a professional a cappella singing group renowned for their singing of American popular songs and Spirituals. This group of very talented women each have a lifetime of musical experience which began with the gospel music of the southern African-American church.

The group's director, Lynnette White, has utilized her degree in music and theater to help create a very positive and uplifting entertainment experience.

Locally, the group has performed on Mike Hyatt's "Midday Show" on Channel 5, “Randolph’s Journal”, and Liz Brisacher-Sharp's "Two O'Clock Sharp" on Channel 36. The group also enjoys performing in most of Charleston's historical sites, resorts, & major hotels, country clubs, plantations, gardens, and reception sites. Recently, the group was the 1999 recipient of the prestigious Three Sisters Award given by the Committee To Save The City. This award was given in recognition of the Plantation Singer's contribution to the special character of Charleston. The group is also featured in an art series by the local artist Rhett Thurman whose Plantation Singers series can be found on display in the Wells Gallery in Charleston.

In November of 2000, the Plantation Singers performed in Naples, Italy for the International Relais & Chateaux Congress. They recently sang at the Greenbriar Inn in W. Virginia and also Atlanta, Georgia. In 2001, they completed successful concert tours of both Korea and Spain.

The group performs renditions from Porgy and Bess, American popular songs and traditional Negro Spirituals. They have also performed before General Wm. Westmoreland; the Prince of Scotland; Joel Silver (Hollywood Producer); the Mayor of Charleston, Joseph Riley; the Cato family of the Cato Fashion Stores; and many, many more. They are well known for their ability to reach out to their crowd, drawing them into the performance. Their audiences tap their toes, clap their hands, and sing along with them. By the end of the performance, the audience members are hugging them and asking for more.
